The Ultimate Fly Line. A revolutionary taper design allows tremendous loop stability at distance and a unique weight distribution loads a rod at close range for easy casting. The front taper delivers perfect turnover and presentation of flies between sizes #22 and #2, making this the best general purpose, all round fly line on the market. The long back taper is excellent for mending and for roll and single handed spey casting and the color change between the head and the running line makes it easy to find the perfect load point for each cast.

The lines features RIO's new Extreme Slickness Technology for an extraordinarily slick, dirt-repelling coating; in addition RIO's AgentX and Super Floatation Technologies ensure the line tip and running line remain floating high. As with all of RIO's premier trout lines a small, neat welded loop in the front end makes it easy to change leaders.

The RIO Grand is state-of-the-art in fly line technology with distinctive benefits for the trout fly fisher. The tip floats extremely high due to RIO's proprietary manufacturing process, yet gives a smooth light delivery of even the smallest dry fly. The weight forward taper features a slightly heavier load to activate the faster modern fly rod, yet the rear taper is long enough for roll casting. The line is the product of RIO's SlickShooter™ Process and incorporates a supple coldwater, super slick, self-lubricating, dirt-resistant coating on a nylon multifilament core. This is the perfect line for wet or dry fly fishing. RIO has included a welded loop on the front end of the fly line to facilitate changing leaders. In all our tests we have found excellent turnover and presentation with this loop. When landing fish, it slides through the rod guides more easily than the customary nail knot. Traditionalists can cut this loop off and not compromise the taper.

Accurate casts can be made with the WindCutter II with just the tip of the rod for a very tight loop; for windy conditions or when distance is needed; the thick belly will load the butt section of modern graphite rods. The Super Flotation Tip; with a welded loop; acts as an indicator to detect subtle takes when fishing emergers subsurface. It also facilitates quick leader changes. Use the RIO Nymph line for nymph fishing under all fishing conditions, whether indicator, high stick or dead drift nymphing and terrestrials. Rated number one by Western professional guides for deep nymphing using strike indicators and long drag free drifts. The taper design, with both a long back taper and body for easy roll casting, mending and fly control, enhances casting weighted nymphs, indicators and big air-resistant flies. RIO’s new high floatation technology creates a super high floating tip that stays up under normal conditions. This high visibility tip is a built-in strike indicator which can be cut off without affecting the casting performance. The Nymph line has welded loops on both ends for easy rigging and fast leader changes. RIO DENSITY COMPENSATED SINK TIP

RIO Density Compensated sinking tip fly lines are designed with a balanced length of thick floating body so there is no hinge, or kick, during the casting stroke. Density compensation stops the problem of sinking tips or full sinking lines from sinking in a curve. With density compensation, the tip sinks at the same speed as the body, producing more strikes, precise depth control and better strike detection. These lines are available with a 7 ft or 15 ft sinking tip and have a coldwater tungsten coating on a braided multifilament core. Length: 90 ft (27.4 m).

An interchangeable tip line for coldwater float tube fishing, steelhead, Atlantic and Pacific salmon as well as saltwater angling in a one-line-does-all configuration. Created from the WindCutter® fly line design, the VersiTip® has a stiff non-hinging loop design and four interchangeable sinking tips. Unlike other sink tips, this line is designed with a thick belly to turn over heavy sinking density tips. The VersiTip has a front floating tip one to two sizes smaller than the nominal weight of the line, which facilitates a light presentation of the fly. Attach either the floating tip or one of the sinking tips directly to the belly. The best way to cast this line is with the belly just a foot or two outside the rod tip. Packaged with the floating tip, plus a 15 ft water clear AquaLux Intermediate on single strand monofilament core (1.5 ips 3.8 cm/s), Type 3 DC (3 - 4 ips 8.9 cm/s), Type 6 DC (6 - 7 ips 17 cm/s) and the new Type 8 DC (8 - 9 ips 20.3 cm/s) sinking tips (sizes #8 - #10 only). The VersiTip can be customized using RIO's shooting heads and cutting any size to length for the prevailing fishing conditions.
